Lafayette Group is seeking experienced professionals to provide advanced consulting support for federal telecommunications programs. Lafayette Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Telecommunications RF Engineer to support impactful projects for our federal clients, with a focus on providing technical and operational expertise to support oversight of the development, deployment, and operation of a mobile broadband network comprised of Long-Term Evolution (LTE), 4th Generation (4G), and 5th Generation (5G) technologies. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels in technical analysis and assessment to support oversight, federal reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and operational expertise to support oversight of the development, deployment, and operation of a mobile broadband network comprised of Long-Term Evolution (LTE), 4th Generation (4G), and 5th Generation (5G) technologies.
  • Review mobile telecommunication coverage maps and other related documentation/statistics provided to determine the accuracy of coverage provided.
  • Develop coverage maps leveraging Planet (or other relevant software) and other software tools provided by the client
  • Perform various types of technical analyses for 3GPP 4G LTE, 5G, and future industry standard networks, including analysis on network deployment, performance, and usage data.
  • Review data to identify trends within NPSBN's various ecosystems.
  • Conduct various types of analyses on 4G LTE and 5G data, including analyses on network deployment, performance, and usage data to inform the government of issues which merit further review by the government or may result in potential opportunities for improvement.
  • Review wireless technology and network metrics data and provide recommendations for project and program improvement.
  • Provide support for mobile wireless network architecture critical design reviews and network compliance assessments
  • Develop white papers, research-based reports, and other technical analyses addressing various complex and/or technical issues to support informed decision making that results in the advancement of the FirstNet mission.
  • Provide summarized results of the analyses and develop reports to summarize data, as required.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Computer Science or other relevant discipline, required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in wireless telecommunications and broadband networks to include, but not limited to experience with LTE, 4G and 5G protocols as well as related system architectures
  • Experience using industry standard software and systems to include, but not limited to:
  • InfoVista's Planet tool, MapInfo, ESRI Arc-GIS, Tableau, Microsoft Power Automate, Sharepoint and PowerApps and telecommunication drive test postprocessing tools such as Accuver's XCAL, and Rohde and Schwarz tools to analyze and provide feedback

Annual Salary Range: $130K - $140K
