Coverage Area:Multiple facilities within a 30-mile radius of Rochester, NY

Compensation & Employment Type

Schedule
  • MondayFriday |8:00 AM 4:00 PM

About the Role

Malace|HR is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Mechanic in Rochester, NY. The role will be working 1st shift hours and pays $33-37 per hour. The HVAC Maintenance Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, monitor, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, furniture, and control systems across multiple facilities.

  • Travel between assigned sites to ensure building systems are functioning properly and maintained to applicable standards.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components to optimize HVAC and associated equipment performance.

  • Record system readings, analyze performance data, and make adjustments as needed to ensure proper operation.

  • Manage facility services, including preventive maintenance programs, inventory control, purchasing, and coordination of contracted maintenance.

  • Monitor the quality, scope, and pricing of work performed by external contractors.

  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; identify safety risks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Conduct periodic inspections of tools and instrumentation to ensure readiness and accuracy.


Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong HVAC and electrical skills (approximately 90% of the role).

  • Basic plumbing and general maintenance skills.

  • Several years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.

  • Proven ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system issues and implement effective corrective actions.

  • EPA 608 Type II Certification required.

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required upon conversion to full-time employment (must be obtained within 60 days if not already held).

  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel between sites.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.


Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Two years of trade school or technical education in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC preferred.
