Summary

Our client is a premier architectural millwork company specializing in custom casework, architectural millwork, finish carpentry, countertops, and specialty woodwork for commercial construction projects throughout Southern California. They partner with general contractors, architects, designers, and owners to deliver exceptional craftsmanship, outstanding customer service, and projects completed on schedule and within budget.

They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial architectural millwork projects from contract award through project closeout. This role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, client communication, engineering coordination, production, and installation to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesProject Management
  • Manage multiple commercial architectural millwork projects from award through project closeout.
  • Review contracts, architectural drawings, specifications, and project scope to ensure complete project understanding.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and establish project execution plans.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, labor, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Identify project risks and implement proactive solutions to maintain schedules and budgets.
  • Manage project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranty items, and final documentation.
Engineering & Production Coordination
  • Coordinate project schedules with engineering, production, purchasing, and installation teams.
  • Review and manage shop drawing approvals and revisions.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change orders, and all project documentation.
  • Work closely with estimators during project handoff to ensure a seamless transition into production.
  • Coordinate material procurement and monitor long-lead items to prevent schedule delays.
  • Support fabrication and installation teams by resolving project issues and maintaining workflow.
Client & Field Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, architects, designers, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain regular communication regarding project schedules, progress, and potential issues.
  • Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and support installation activities.
  • Ensure projects meet company quality standards, client expectations, and contract requirements.
Qualifications & RequirementsProject Management Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience within architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, finish carpentry, custom woodworking, or a related industry.
  • Proven experience managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, shop, and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience managing custom casework, architectural millwork, countertops, and finish carpentry projects.
  • Working knowledge of AWI Standards and architectural specifications preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and project management software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar drafting software is a plus.
  • Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management platforms is preferred.
