About ISP Millwork, LLC

ISP Millwork is a rapidly growing commercial and residential millwork company located in Ronkonkoma, NY. We specialize in high-end commercial interiors, luxury residential projects, hospitality environments, custom casework, panel systems, wall cladding, reception desks, fixture packages, and specialty fabrication.

Position Summary

The Estimator will play a key role in driving profitable growth by preparing detailed take-offs, evaluating bid documents, analyzing architectural drawings, and developing accurate, timely cost estimates for custom millwork projects across commercial, residential, and hospitality sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of millwork fabrication, materials, hardware, labor, subcontractors, and shop production workflow, and works closely with Project Managers, engineers, and clients to ensure bids are competitive, complete, and aligned with production capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, and change orders to prepare and update accurate estimates.
  • Perform comprehensive material take-offs (cabinetry, paneling, trims, doors, countertops, hardware, and specialty items).
  • Break down labor, fabrication hours, finishing requirements, and installation costs.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns using company tools and standardized templates.
  • Obtain vendor pricing for materials, hardware, finishes, and specialty components; maintain up-to-date knowledge of material pricing, labor rates, and industry trends.
  • Evaluate project scope and identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Coordinate internally with Project Managers, Operations, Drafting/Engineering, and Production to validate feasibility, lead times, and fabrication methods.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, scope review sessions, and project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with GCs, designers, vendors, subcontractors, and residential/hospitality partners.
  • Track bid outcomes and contribute to winning profitable, competitive work.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial, residential, hospitality, or architectural millwork.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, interior design plans, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of millwork materials (veneers, plywood, hardwoods, laminates, hardware systems, finishes), joinery methods, and fabrication workflows.
  • Experience estimating union and non-union labor.
  • Experience bidding commercial interiors, luxury homes, hospitality venues, retail, healthcare, and public projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel/Office, take-off tools, and estimating software.
  • Familiarity with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar millwork engineering software.
  • Excellent math, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
