Job description

APPI is a wood veneer panel manufacturer and is seeking a project manager with an architectural millwork background. ย  This role will ensure our projects are built correctly, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations. You will coordinate between sales, engineering, production, purchasing, finishing, shipping, and the customer.
If you cannot manage details, schedules, and pressure simultaneously, this is not the role for you.
Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for assigned jobs after handoff from sales
  • Review drawings, specifications, and scope for completeness
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, or missing information before production begins
  • Create and maintain project schedules
  • Work closely with drafting/engineering to ensure approved shop drawings
  • Coordinate material purchasing and track lead times
  • Ensure production schedule aligns with customer deadlines
  • Communicate finish requirements, veneer selections, and special details clearly to production
  • Monitor bottlenecks and proactively adjust
  • Act as primary point of contact after project award
  • Provide updates on schedule, material status, and delivery timing
  • Manage change orders properly โ€” document, price, and get approvals
  • Address issues early before they become problems
  • Track labor and material usage against estimates
  • Monitor gross margin throughout the project
  • Identify risks to profitability and escalate early
  • Approve vendor invoices related to assigned jobs
  • Ensure materials match specifications
  • Verify finish samples and approvals
  • Conduct final review before shipment
  • Protect the companyโ€™s reputation by preventing preventable mistakes
Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience managing architectural millwork or wood panel projects
  • Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of millwork production processes
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven
  • Comfortable making decisions without constant supervision
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Experience with veneer panels, high-end residential, yacht interiors, or commercial millwork
