Job description

Summary:

Tends feed mill that grind materials such as corn, SBM, ingredients for feed and drugs, by performing the essential job duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adds prescribed amount of corn, soybean meal, drugs and feed ingredients for making desired feed.
  • Monitors inventories to ensure proper ingredients are on hand for mixing. Minimizes excess inventory and out of date materials.
  • Monitors feed grinding to ensure quality of final product is consistent and of high quality.
  • Maintains and repairs feed equipment. Keeps feed grinding area clean, safe, and up to code.
  • Coordinates loads to maximize efficiency and maintain customer service.
  • Maintains inventory of products including loading/unloading trucks and organizing warehouse.
  • Operates mill in a safe and responsible manor.
  • Keep production records including products ordered, inventory records, production records and billing.
  • Maintain and record maintenance and housekeeping records in the appropriate logbooks.
  • Certain branches/locations may require the employee to maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times and/or Commercial Driver's License (CDL), please see the requirements of this specific position below.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to use computer to operate mill equipment, bill product, receive and adjust inventory.

Certificates and Licenses:

May be required to maintain a current weighing license and grain grading certificate.
