What is a mid level web developer?

Mid Level Web Developers are professionals with a few years of experience who design, build, and maintain websites and web applications. They possess strong knowledge of front-end and back-end technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and often server-side languages like Python, Ruby, or PHP. At this level, developers are expected to work independently on projects, contribute to architecture decisions, and sometimes mentor junior developers. They bridge the gap between entry-level and senior developers, taking on more responsibility and complex tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mid level web developer?

To thrive as a Mid Level Web Developer, you need a solid grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern web framework, as well as a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, experience with APIs, and understanding of build tools or cloud platforms are typically required. Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication skills help you deliver robust solutions and collaborate with stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for building scalable, maintainable applications and contributing effectively to dynamic development teams.

What are some common challenges faced by mid level web developers, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Mid-level web developers often encounter challenges such as balancing multiple projects, adapting to rapidly evolving technologies, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. To overcome these, it's helpful to prioritize tasks using project management tools, stay updated by participating in code reviews and learning sessions, and communicate clearly with designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders. Embracing continuous learning and seeking mentorship from senior developers can also support growth and help tackle complex problems more confidently.

What is the difference between Mid Level Web Developer vs Junior Web Developer?

Job Description

Koniag Professional Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Mid-Level MuleSoft Integration Developer to support KPS and our government customer. The position is remote. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

We offer competitive compensation and an extraordinary benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401K with company matching, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, three weeks paid time off, and more.

Koniag Professional Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Mid-Level MuleSoft Integration Developer to support the CRM, Integration, and Platform Services workforce. This role will support API-led connectivity, system integration, reusable services, data exchange, and secure enterprise interoperability while helping the customer deliver secure, reliable, accessible, and maintainable digital services. The successful candidate will develop, configure, test, document, and support platform capabilities under the direction of senior engineers and architects and will work closely with government stakeholders, architects, engineers, product owners, cybersecurity, operations, and business users to convert requirements into mission-aligned platform capabilities.

The Mid-Level MuleSoft Integration Developer will provide hands-on platform development or integration support for MuleSoft capabilities within the CRM, Integration, and Platform Services environment.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Design, configure, develop, integrate, test, document, and sustain MuleSoft capabilities using Anypoint Platform, API Manager, Runtime Manager, CloudHub, Mule 4, DataWeave, REST/SOAP APIs, connectors, policies, and CI/CD automation.
  • Develop API-led integration layers, reusable services, DataWeave transformations, runtime policies, and secure connectivity between enterprise systems.
  • Translate business, mission, security, accessibility, and operational requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Support platform architecture, backlog refinement, implementation planning, release readiness, and production transition activities.
  • Develop reusable patterns, configuration standards, automation, documentation, and support procedures that reduce delivery and sustainment risk.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across platform configuration, code, data, APIs, identity, security, performance, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, data, infrastructure, QA, and change management teams to align delivery with federal operating expectations.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, design decisions, implementation notes, test evidence, and operational runbooks.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in hands-on platform development or integration, preferably in complex enterprise or government environments.
  • Hands-on experience with MuleSoft implementation, configuration, development, integration, testing, or operations.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery teams and translating stakeholder needs into maintainable technical outcomes.
  • MuleSoft Certified Developer, MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect, MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect, or comparable API/integration certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government IT environments, Public Trust programs, or regulated enterprise delivery.
  • Experience with Section 508, cybersecurity, auditability, data protection, and operational documentation expectations.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of MuleSoft capabilities, implementation patterns, administration, development, integration, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to design and implement secure, supportable, upgrade-aware solutions that avoid unnecessary customization and reduce technical debt.
  • Experience with APIs, identity and access controls, data management, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and release coordination.
  • Ability to document technical designs, configuration decisions, operational procedures, test results, and risks in clear business and technical language.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across government stakeholders, product owners, engineers, QA, cybersecurity, and operations teams.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, or platform release automation.
  • Knowledge of federal security and compliance concepts including NIST controls, FISMA, FedRAMP-authorized services, audit evidence, and least privilege.
  • Experience improving platform governance, reuse, documentation, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Atlassian, Snowflake, data catalog, CRM, or enterprise integration ecosystems.
