Job description

Flux Resources is seeking an Mid-Level Process Mechanical Estimator to join one of our clients. This is a contract opportunity paying in the $50-$57/hr range. This opportunity is open to candidates in Indianapolis IN, Portland Oregon, or Phoenix AZ.
Mid-Level Process Mechanical Estimator, you will prepare cost estimates for specific disciplines and provide business support to senior staff. You'll conduct budget and market estimates, trade reconciliations while utilizing project documentation, industry standards, and current market costs. This full-time role offers the opportunity to demonstrate your potential, collaborate with industry experts, and enjoy a competitive compensation package with comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
โ€ข Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from available design documents.
โ€ข Understand union and trade construction cost standards.
โ€ข Develop final "should cost" estimates to validate trade cost submissions and ensure fair pricing.
โ€ข Reconcile trade bid submissions with project scope, market conditions, and budget.
โ€ข Adapt to a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to change.
โ€ข Source accurate and current pricing data from contractors, suppliers, and databases.
โ€ข Collaborate with architects and engineers to understand project scope and build strong relationships with A/E firms and project teams.
โ€ข Support senior staff in identifying efficiency improvements.
โ€ข Maintain organized project documentation and file structures in accordance with company standards.
โ€ข Support cost data library.
โ€ข Prepare cost reconciliations between multiple estimates and explain cost variances.
โ€ข May need to perform site walks as needed at the client site.
โ€ข Potential travel at client site.
โ€ข Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Role Complexity and Decision-Making
โ€ข Work involves conventional practices with occasional complex features.
โ€ข Work within a collaborative group and demonstrate ownership on assignments, making sound technical judgments.
โ€ข Collaborate with and provide guidance to junior technical staff and assisting with assignments.
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent discipline experience.
โ€ข Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience.
โ€ข Proficient in IT tools including Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based platforms.
โ€ข Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
โ€ข Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
