Job description

Attend Our Welder Hiring Event!

Immediate Opportunities Available

Saturday, August 22nd from 10am - 3pm EST

1st Shift | 2nd Shift | Weekend Shift

Whether you're an experienced welder or looking to continue growing your fabrication career, ASC wants to meet you. Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to complete a weld assessment during the hiring event.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding duties using MIG, TIG, Wire Welder, Spot Welder, and oxy-acetylene torch equipment
  • Weld I-beams, structural frames, fuel tanks, and related assemblies in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Read and work from blueprints, weld symbols, and production specifications
  • Set up and lay out work using material handling equipment and hand-layout methods
  • Grind, clean, and finish welds to quality standards
  • Inspect completed welds and perform repairs as needed
  • Clamp, tack, drill, mill, tap, cut, and assemble components for fabrication
  • Operate sanders, grinders, wire wheels, and other fabrication tools
  • Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and used safely
  • Assist with fuel tank pressure testing and corrective repairs as needed
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality
  • Report quality, material, production, or safety concerns to leadership
  • Support ASC's commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

What to Bring

  • Prescription Glasses or Prescription Safety Glasses (if applicable)
  • Personal Welding Hood/Shield
  • Welding Sleeves
  • Welding Gloves


Weld Test Expectations

Be prepared to weld.

Candidates will be evaluated on welding quality, fit-up skills, blueprint interpretation, and adherence to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).

The weld assessment may include:

  • Butt Joint Welds
  • Lap Joint Welds
  • Intermittent Welds
  • Slot Welds
  • Radial Welds

Welding Processes Evaluated

  • MIG Spray Transfer
  • MIG Short Arc Transfer

Material Used:

  • ¼-inch plate for MIG Spray evaluation
  • ¼-inch plate for Short Arc evaluation

Additional Assessment Areas

Candidates will also be assessed on:

  • Blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Fitment and layout accuracy
  • Ability to follow WPS requirements
  • Weld appearance and quality
  • Safety practices and workmanship
  • Overall fabrication aptitude

Dress for Success

Candidates should arrive dressed as if reporting to work on the manufacturing floor.

Required Attire:

  • Plain shirt or T-shirt
  • Full-length work pants
  • Closed-toe work boots preferred

Not Permitted:

  • Sweatpants
  • Shorts
  • Clothing with holes, tears, or excessive wear
  • Loose-fitting clothing that may present a safety hazard
