Purpose of Role

The Director, Wholesale - Academy is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy for Academy Sports + Outdoors, one of Under Armour's most strategic Sporting Goods partners. This leader will drive profitable growth, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure seamless execution across merchandising, planning, marketing, and operations. This role requires deep Sporting Goods industry expertise, strong executive presence, and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams. 

Your Impact

   Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share within Academy Sports + Outdoors.
   Own forecasting, account planning, and seasonal business reviews to ensure achievement of financial targets.
   Identify growth opportunities through consumer insights, marketplace trends, and customer collaboration.
   Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment on product assortments, inventory management, and go-to-market strategies.
   Serve as the primary relationship owner for Academy Sports + Outdoors.
   Build and maintain strong relationships with merchant, planning, and executive-level customer partners.
   Lead key business negotiations and strategic conversations to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
   Represent Under Armour with professionalism, confidence, and executive presence in all customer interactions.
   Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team focused on delivering exceptional results.
   Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and continuous development.
   Provide clear direction, performance expectations, and career development opportunities for team members.
   Foster strong partnerships across internal stakeholders to drive business success.

Qualifications

   Bachelor's degree with typically 12 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with typically 10 years of relevant  experience, OR Typically 16 years of relevant work experience without degree.
   Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share within Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Own forecasting, account planning, and seasonal business reviews to ensure achievement of financial targets.
   Identify growth opportunities through consumer insights, marketplace trends, and customer collaboration.

Workplace Location
  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Katy, TX office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.

Base Compensation

 $165,000.00-$220,000.00 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
