Job description

Axiom Consultants, a Ruekert & Mielke company, is seeking an experienced Structural Designer to join our Building Services division based out of our Iowa City or Madison office. This role offers the opportunity to support multi-disciplinary engineering projects from schematic design through construction closeout and work closely with structural engineers. You'll work under the guidance of our Structural Team Leader, collaborating with internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed 3D models and construction documents using Revit
  • Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to develop design concepts
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural, MEP, and civil teams
  • Support construction administration by reviewing shop drawings and RFIs
  • Work with project managers to meet deadlines and deliverable expectations
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings
  • Ensure adherence to company standards in drafting and design practices

Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
  • 3+ years of experience in structural drafting/design with an Associate's degree, or 5+ years of industry experience
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Bluebeam Revu
  • Experience with commercial building design incorporating concrete, masonry, wood, foundations, and steel detailing
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in design work
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
