Description:

The Surgery Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring seamless coordination of surgical procedures across multiple hospitals and surgery centers. This position serves as the primary liaison between surgeons, patients, healthcare facilities, insurance companies, and clinical staff to facilitate efficient scheduling and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced medical practice environment.


  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures for physicians at multiple hospital and outpatient surgery locations.
  • Obtain and track all required prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance approvals to ensure procedures are scheduled appropriately.
  • Monitor and coordinate pre-operative requirements, including medical clearances, laboratory testing, imaging studies, and specialty consultations.
  • Schedule diagnostic testing and ancillary services as needed to support patient care and surgical readiness.
  • Communicate surgical dates, pre-operative instructions, and procedural requirements to patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with surgeons regarding schedule optimization, block time utilization, and availability across multiple facilities.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, surgery centers, physician offices, and ancillary departments to coordinate all aspects of the surgical schedule.
  • Monitor surgeon schedules to maximize efficiency and ensure appropriate allocation of operating room block time and office responsibilities.
