Role Purpose/Summary

The Maximo Business System Owner is the principle point of stakeholder coordination and end‑user system management for the PAA instance of the Maximo Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system. They play a critical collaboration, planning, and work execution role between the Operations, Commercial (Trucking), and IS teams to ensure that operational business requirements are properly captured, related system functions are enabled, and system configurations changes made by IS are adopted effectively by the respective business teams. Their portfolio of oversight and execution of work within Maximo spans three core areas of End‑user Management, Data Management, and System Configuration Change Management. This is an office‑based role but requires a detailed understanding of field operations, maintenance, and safety work practices, as well as detailed technical knowledge of Maximo and related technology elements (e.g., system data structures, system administration / security practices, system configuration testing, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Engage with the respective stakeholder teams from Commercial (Trucking), Operations, Engineering, and HSE at least monthly to provide updates on supported initiatives, forthcoming system changes, or new system capabilities that may be of interest.
  • Support business process improvement efforts that can leverage system capabilities to enhance work execution, including documenting process changes and business scoping or functional requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders and the technology function to define a multi‑year roadmap for system capabilities development aligned to emerging business requirements.
  • Capture, prioritize, and manage stakeholder system initiatives and enhancements through to completion.
  • Oversee larger project efforts that require new or significantly enhanced system capabilities or integration with other systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with IS for the PAA Maximo instance and work to debottleneck application management support to ensure timely system improvements (i.e., find ways to accelerate backlog resolution).
  • Plan and oversee testing of all system changes for the respective instances prior to implementation.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure training / reference guides necessary to adopt system changes are developed and provided to stakeholders.
  • Provide direct business support to resolve end user issues, progress business initiatives, and accelerate system enhancements.
  • Analyze / evaluate end‑user system issues that arise and identify mitigations or potential solutions.
  • Assist with functional requirements gathering and system configuration design.
  • Exercise critical decision making and discretion in performing tasks; redirect solution implementation if desired results were not originally met.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental team members and management to ensure alignment of expectations, work progress, and outcomes achieved.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices following Plains’ safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for informing senior personnel of hazard identification and near misses.
  • Responsible for completing other related duties that may be assigned based on operational requirements and priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
  • Requires a 4‑year college degree in STEM or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a technical analysis, maintenance / reliability, or engineering role.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English and the ability to perform basic math.
  • Detailed knowledge across a broad range of field operations, maintenance, and safety work practices.
  • Experience managing end users, data, and system configurations for EAM and related software platforms.
  • Ability to work in a team-based work environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of Plains’ O&M Manual, specifications, and forms used to document inspection and maintenance activities.
  • Must have a detailed knowledge of the Maximo EAM platform and related technologies.
  • Must have comprehensive computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office suite with strong emphasis on Excel and/or other spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be familiar with PHMSA and OSHA regulations as well as Plains’ operating procedures.
  • Must have an outstanding safety record.
  • Ability to successfully complete company training as assigned.
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
