Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster is currently accepting applications for two part-time adjunct mathematics teaching assignments for MAT-115 College Algebra & Trigonometry. Two sections are available (the prospective applicant should be able to teach either one or both sections):
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 12:00-1:20 pm Stone Ridge Campus
Monday/Wednesday 6:00-8:00 pm Kingston Center, Marys Ave
Both courses will run during the fall semester from August 24 - December 16, 2026.
Under the general supervision of the Mathematics Coordinator in the STEM Department, the adjunct instructor will provide mathematics instruction in accordance with established course syllabi along with departmental and college policies.
Course descriptions may be viewed in the SUNY Ulster Catalog at catalog.sunyulster.edu.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • A commitment to meet on campus during each scheduled class session and to teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire time period.
  • Contact the appropriate division chair or administrator in advance to make arrangements for unavoidable absences.
  • Provide each student, and the academic department, with a Course Outline derived from the official course syllabus at the beginning of the course. The outline will include contact information, topics covered, and information about how the student will be assessed as per departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately keep required class records on attendance, withdrawal, and grading.
  • Submit when due, all necessary reports such as attendance and grade reports, roll books, and class information sheets, and certify their accuracy.
  • Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Give careful attention to all departmental and administrative communications by checking your SUNY Ulster email frequently.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in mathematics or closely related field.
  • Previous mathematics teaching experience, preferably at a community college.
And
  • Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the Brightspace learning management system.

Salary:
$1049.00 per contact hour.
