The Tutoring & Learning Center at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Coordinator of the Math & Science Center position.
The Coordinator of the Math & Science Center is responsible for overseeing and coordinating academic support in math and science for undergraduate and graduate students. In coordination with the Writing & Reading Center and Library & Archives, the Coordinator will help deliver holistic academic support. The Coordinator will do this through managing the day-to-day operations of the center; recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating math and science peer tutors; and developing programming and resources to promote and support math and science learning, engagement, and success.
The Coordinator will:
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise student assistants, including peer tutors, embedded tutors, and departmental peer mentors. Coordinate with faculty regarding embedded tutoring services.
- Establish tutoring schedules in alignment with the university's course schedule to ensure the appropriate availability of student support.
- Monitor Tutoring & Learning Center email and phone, fielding student and faculty questions and when needed and forwarding to the appropriate team members.
- Serve as the Tutoring & Learning Center's lead scheduling system administrator.
- Develop and implement a marketing and outreach strategy for peer tutoring.
- Regularly evaluate the processes, procedures, and services for continuous improvement of academic support and department efficiency.
- Integrate the use of AI into tutoring and department processes.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of utilization and satisfaction data.
- Develop and coordinate study groups, workshops, embedded tutoring, and other academic support resources and services on math and science academic skills, collaborating with faculty to determine scope of cocurricular programming.
- Coordinate the embedded tutoring program, including faculty outreach, tutor placement, scheduling, and ongoing communication with instructional staff.
- Develop and maintain online resources for math and science learning available at a distance and asynchronously.
- Update and maintain select web content and digital resources related to Tutoring Services, ensuring information is current and accessible.
- Work with Teaching Hub and other academic affairs staff and faculty to deliver faculty development on topics pertinent to student success in math and science (including health sciences) courses.
- Maintain current working knowledge of developments in the field of tutoring services.
- Participate in professional development through professional organizations, webinars, and conferences.
- Represent the department at university events to promote tutorial services.
- Attend meetings and other committees as appropriate or as requested.
- Act as a liaison between the Tutoring & Learning Center and faculty.
- Partner creatively with faculty, staff, and other academic support units, including within the library, to offer programming and solutions to meet student needs and to promote Tutoring & Learning Center services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in math or science; minimum three years teaching or tutoring experience at the high school or college level.
- Subject-area proficiency in mathematics or science disciplines sufficient to provide by-appointment and embedded tutoring at the college level.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt language and tone to suit various audiences and contexts including emails, reports, and presentations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and pivot quickly in response to changing needs, deadlines, or organizational priorities.
- Experience with and demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations.
- Adaptability and openness to change: comfortable in evolving environments with a willingness to learn new skills, processes, and technologies.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, including expanding subject-area knowledge, and developing skills in emerging tools and tutoring approaches.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with careful review of work across documentation, data entry, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree. Experience recruiting and hiring students and creating and maintaining accurate work schedules. Experience identifying academic support needs and developing and implementing new interventions.
- Experience delivering higher education academic support services, such as academic coaching, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, or comparable services to undergraduates and/or graduate students in a learning center or academic support center along with knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices to support learning.
- Ability to design, implement and assess workshops, trainings, presentations, and events.
- Comfortable with public speaking, leading workshops, and having voice and/or face recorded for instructional or training purposes.
- Demonstrated comfort with and/or willingness to use artificial intelligence tools as part of regular job duties, including in student-facing instruction and academic support contexts.
- Basic skills in updating website content

Compensation:Annual wage is $42,474 - $59,467 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.
