Job description

Process Engineer

We are seeking a Process Engineer to lead continuous improvement and modernize manufacturing processes within a hands‑on, manual assembly environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on the production floor, enjoys solving real problems with real operators, and wants ownership of meaningful, plant‑wide improvements. You will drive Lean manufacturing, eliminate waste, improve flow, and strengthen safety, quality, and efficiency across the operation.


What You’ll Do
  • Improve assembly processes by analyzing current workflows and implementing practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Apply Lean tools including standardized work, takt time, SMED, Poka Yoke, and load leveling to reduce waste and stabilize production.
  • Develop clear documentation such as work instructions, standardized work, process flows, PFMEAs, and cell/floor layouts.
  • Lead root cause analysis for defects, downtime, and variation; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Improve process capability to ensure consistent product performance and specification compliance.
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, and plant leadership to implement improvements that enhance safety, ergonomics, and operational stability.
  • Work directly with operators to validate issues, gather insights, and drive continuous improvement on the production floor.
  • Maintain accurate plant layouts including machines, utilities, and material flow paths.
  • Identify and reduce waste in scrap, rework, labor inefficiencies, and equipment downtime.

This is a Contract position based out of Michigan City, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $45.67/hr.
