Material Control Specialist

Salary Exempt Indirect Opelika, AL, US

Purpose:

Participate in daily operations of the Material Control Team including ordering parts, inventory management, and new program/EO change management

Key Responsibilities include the following(other duties may be assigned as needed):

  1. Release PO(Demand) to supplier
    • Analyze long-term plan demand released by the Production Control Team.
    • Update BOM and part information into order file in a timely manner
    • Release PO to suppliers every week.
    • Manage suppliers based on key performance metrics such as PO vs. receipt
    • Enter ARNs and check ASNs accurately and on time
    • Avoid unplanned premium freight and excess inventory => Balance out management
    • Monthly closing to ensure balance of ARNs and actual receipts.
    • Communicate with suppliers and relevant teams
  2. Inventory Management
    • Set up proper inventory levels for each part
    • Maintain proper inventory level (minimize inventory levels without causing material shortages)
    • Target inventory management
    • Maintain 100% Inventory accuracy b/t actual and system (SAP, G-MES)
    • Analyze inventory movement in the system
    • Slow-moving inventory management
  3. Delivery Management
    • Transportation management
    • Delivery schedule management from suppliers (ETD, ETA)
    • Cost savings
  4. EO/4M/EOP/New Program Management
    • Support all EO changes and launching new programs
    • Minimize premium-shipping costs by managing EO/new program schedules
    • Control EOP unique materials without getting excess materials
    • Attend MDT meetings to get proper information

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year university degree and/or comparable background of work-related experience in supply chain management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and positive attitude.
  • Accounts payable, material control, and/or purchasing experience desired

Legal Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent office, manufacturing floor, and warehouse work.
  • Frequent exposure to noise, moving machinery, and energized equipment.
  • Frequent exposure to material flow and narrow aisles.
  • Frequent requirement of PPE.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional requirement of lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional weekends/OT and rotating/on-call.

Remote Work: This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
