The Marketing Technology Specialist stands at the intersection of marketing and technology, orchestrating seamless integration, optimization, and management of digital marketing tools and platforms. This role is essential for companies aiming to maximize their marketing ROI, streamline campaign operations, and leverage data-driven insights for superior customer engagement. The specialist works collaboratively across marketing, IT, sales, and external vendors, serving as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor.

Responsibilities

Marketing Technology Stack Management:

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage marketing technology platforms such as CRMs (Customer Relationship Management platforms), MAPs (Marketing Automation platforms), CMSs (Content Management Systems), DAMs (Digital Asset Management platforms), analytics solutions, and other digital tools.
  • Monitor technological trends and recommend new solutions to enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee integration of various marketing tools to ensure seamless data flow and campaign management.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to document requirements, help resolve basic technical issues, and escalate more complex problems as needed.

Marketing Operations Support:

  • Support the execution of marketing campaigns through the configuration and management of digital tools and platforms.
  • Maintain marketing databases, ensuring data integrity, segmentation, and enrichment for targeted campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Train and support marketing staff in technology usage and troubleshooting.

Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Configure tracking, analytics, and reporting systems to measure campaign performance and ROI.
  • Analyze marketing data to identify opportunities for optimization and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Create dashboards and standardized reports to disseminate actionable insights into the marketing team.
  • Contribute to A/B testing, attribution modeling, and customer journey mapping initiatives.

Project Management:

  • Lead and participate in marketing technology projects, from requirements gathering and vendor selection to implementation and training.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Ensure that all technology-driven initiatives align with broader marketing and business goals.

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure marketing technology practices comply with privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA, TCPA) and organizational policies.
  • Monitor security vulnerabilities and implement best practices to protect customer data and marketing assets.
  • Adhere to all internal company policies, procedures, and standards related to technology usage, data governance, security, and marketing operations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with emerging marketing technologies, digital trends, and best practices.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to marketing systems and processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the marketing team regarding the use of technology.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support evolving business and marketing technology needs.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

Experience/Knowledge

  • 2+ years of experience in a marketing technology, digital marketing, marketing operations, or related role.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing concepts, platforms, and data analytics.
  • Experience with marketing technology tools, such as:
    • CMSs (e.g., Sitefinity is preferred, Contentful, WordPress, Drupal)
    • Web Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics is preferred, Adobe Analytics)
    • CRMs (e.g., Salesforce is preferred, Microsoft Dynamics)
    • DAMs (e.g., Brandfolder is preferred, Bynder)
    • Project Management platforms (e.g., Jira, Wrike)
    • MAPs (e.g., HubSpot is preferred, Marketo, Pardot, Eloqua)
    • Tag Management (e.g., Google Tag Manager)
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and reporting.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APIs is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Certification in marketing technologies (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics, Salesforce) is advantageous.
  • Experience with Data Privacy regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, or other scripting languages is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration across marketing, IT, and sales teams.

What's in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $70,600 - $88,300 annually. This is a hybrid opportunity working out of our office in Frederick, Maryland. Required to come onsite 3 days per week. 

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses.  This role is eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 8% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date.  This role has 15 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
