Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is searching for a Marketing & Proposal Manager for the Southeast Region. The individual in this role has overall responsibility and accountability for the marketing and proposals including quality of marketing collateral and proposals for the Southeast and will work closely with the Southeast Regional Vice President, the Georgia and Florida Operations Managers, and collaborate with the East Group Senior Marketing Leader. As a supervisory role, this Region-level marketing position provides leadership and direction to the marketing and proposal resources in the Southeast Region (Georgia and Florida) of the East Group. Key focus areas include Strategy Development, Proposal Leadership, Collateral, and Industry Engagement. The position also performs a key communication role between the Southeast Region Manager and Southeast employees. 

Because this role supports the Southeast Region, this person can be located near any of our Georgia/Florida offices.

Summary of responsibilities include:

This position is 2-fold. This individual will manage and provide direction to the marketing and proposal group with the goals of quality, consistency, and efficiency. This will take approximately 60% of their time. Some specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordination and support of Southeast Proposal efforts
  • Collaboration with East Group virtual proposal team
  • Proposal load leveling across the Southeast
  • Quality standards adherence
  • Process and resource efficiency and standardization
  • Proposal training and mentoring
  • Proposal statistics and analysis
  • Resume and project profile creations, updates, and data sharing
  • Proposal-related competitor analysis
  • Marketing collateral creation

The remaining 40% of their time will be split between strategic development (20%) and external branding (20%). Some specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with Regional Manager (RM) and Operation managers (OMs) on strategic growth initiatives
  • Assist RM and OM's in developing KPIs around growth initiatives and keep leads accountable
  • Lead strategic proposal reviews that support growth initiatives
  • Support East Group in branding the East and SE operations
  • LinkedIn post creation, training, and approval
  • Social media procedure and template understanding and adherence
  • Conference guidance and support (10% travel expected)

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a list of all active proposals, pre-qualifications, and other customer responses with status and submission dates for assigned business
  • Support and contribute to the continual improvement of proposal procedures and processes
  • Take end-to-end ownership and command of proposal development and related support processes and procedures, including written proposals, oral presentations, Best and Final Offers, Evaluation Notices, Final Proposal Revisions, etc.
  • Manage Proposal Leads and Coordinators for their assigned part of the business including the coordination of workload (allocation of assignments), quality of output, ensuring expectations and goals are clear and business is supported
  • Evaluate job performance of Proposal Leads and Proposal Coordinators of respective business Ensure incorporation of proposal best practices into all customer responses for respective business Oversee/support pre-proposal positioning where appropriate, as well as proposal development strategies and implementation. This includes the development of capture plan and proposal planning document development, facilitation of strategy sessions to develop the winning strategy, and theme/value proposition for proposals.
  • Work with staff to support development of Marketing Collateral and maintain information in SharePoint site.
  • Leads the development and execution of marketing and communications plans for business and service lines, and is a major contributor to the Southeast marketing and communications strategy
  • Identifies and develops compelling, relevant stories from around the business consistently

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university required in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related majors preferred
  • Minimum Eight (8) years marketing and proposal experience with similar firms preferred

 Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Technical and/or engineering consulting support experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to implement industry best practices and Proposals/Marketing techniques
  • Ability to manage projects, interface with customer representatives, interpret customer/stakeholder requirements, manage customer/stakeholder expectations, plan workload, organize proposals team resources and deliver on agreed deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat; Proficiency with SharePoint and InDesign is desired.
