The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations in the extraction lab, including staffing, training, scheduling, inventory management, and compliance adherence. You will be reporting directly to the Director of Operation and Operations Manager.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing and directly managing extraction, refinement and edible production within the facility. This role plays a crucial role in aligning corporate directives and initiatives while ensuring the required level of quality, safety, and service is achieved. The Manufacturing Manager provides guidance, leadership, actively manages teams, and implements best practices to achieve production objectives. This position involves developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, managing the workforce, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Oversee day‑to‑day manufacturing operations and ensure a safe, efficient, productive, and positive work environment
  • Maintain batch records for all raw materials, in‑process materials and finished goods in all tracking systems
  • Develop, maintain, and implement standard operating procedures for all products and techniques related to extraction and refinement
  • Manage the daily activities of the extraction and refinement department and its team members, including planning, scheduling, organizing, assigning, and coordinating the activities and resources of the department
  • Directly manages the production work force to achieve Jushi’s objectives, including hiring, coaching, firing, labor planning, and workforce organization.
  • Possess familiarity with basic scientific principles and laboratory experience, with the ability to follow written instruction and maintain laboratory records.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines, with a focus on safe and proper operation of machinery, instrumentation, and equipment
  • Ensure that the final product meets all requirements for compliance, stability, safety, and desired interest of the target audience
  • Set up, operate, and maintain manufacturing equipment and laboratory instruments, monitor experiments, make observations, calculate and record results
  • Develop and execute work plans/schedules for the team that meet production requirements and deadlines
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and cleaned as required
  • Maintain batch records for all raw materials and in‑process materials in tracking systems and relevant logs
  • Manage raw materials and coordinate material and resource allocation
  • Create and manage daily, weekly, and long‑term production schedules to meet company needs
  • Guide, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals, fostering their professional growth
  • Ensure compliance with GMP regulations, local and state governing bodies, OSHA and other relevant worker safety regulations in a manufacturing environment
  • Ensure utilization of all internal tracking systems, ERP and QMS to ensure consistent products and high‑quality control
  • Partner with technology, quality, and compliance teams to ensure efficient regulatory compliance for all manufacturing related activities (document records, inventory counts, etc.)
  • Develop and implement research and development procedures, programs and techniques for extraction and concentrate products to meet organizational needs and explore new product opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Manufacturing, Engineering, or similar field or at least 2 years of experience in cannabis manufacturing.
  • Experience with ethanol extraction, hydrocarbon extraction, CO2 extraction, and distillation techniques
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard lab equipment; filling equipment, vacuum ovens, hot plates, extraction equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience related to producing cannabis products, extraction techniques, and routes of administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of extraction and chemical processing techniques
  • Experience with edible production preferred
  • Have 4+ years of experience managing product, staff, and resources in a commercial manufacturing operation
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve manufacturing objectives in terms of volume, product mix, cost, and quality
  • Extensive knowledge in environment, health and safety standards in manufacturing operations required
  • Enjoys working in a start‑up, fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively, orally and in writing with various audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasionally Twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl
  • The ability to communicate orally with management and other co‑workers is crucial. Sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.
