Key Responsibilities
  • Automation & Operations: Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair Rod Mill electrical and PLC control systems to minimize downtime. Manage drive programs (backup and restore).
  • Leadership & Management: Oversee the Electrical Supervisor and department team. Fill in for the supervisor as needed. Coach, train, and mentor Controls Technicians and electrical staff.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety rules, work policies, and standard operating procedures. Lead continuous improvement and Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives.
  • Administrative: Document employee performance, participate in union grievance procedures if needed, and assist in developing the electrical apprenticeship program.
Technical Requirements
  • PLCs & Software: Strong experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs, specifically Step 7, PCS 7, WinCC, and TIA Portal.
  • Electrical Systems: Proficient in industrial power systems (480V, 240V, 120V, 24V DC), variable frequency drives (VFDs), single- and three-phase power, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Networking & Hardware: Capable of specifying Ethernet switches and network topology; able to read and interpret electrical schematics, instrumentation manuals, and wiring diagrams.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of heavy industrial electrical/electronics experience; 2-5 years of leadership experience.
  • Education: Degree in Industrial Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong root-cause troubleshooting capabilities, clear written and verbal communication, and effective performance management.
