Job description

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Medical Records Clerk processes inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room records as assigned.  Answers phones and scans records into the Health System imaging system.  Must be proficient in release of information policies.May perform charge duties as requested..  Reports to the HIM Manager. 
Education:High School Diploma and Medical Terminology preferred . Associate Degree in Health Information is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:       None required.  RHIT or RHIA preferred
Experience:  Previous healthcare and Medical Record experience preferred.
Skills:  Competency in Microsoft Word and keyboard experience required.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
