GENERAL PURPOSE
The Director of Development & Alumni Relations is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Foundation, Development, and Alumni departments, including supervising staff, executing fundraising campaigns, managing records, coordinating events, and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of the strategic goals and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Operational Management & Staff Supervision
    • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the department, including supervision.
    • Lead the development and implementation of the annual giving campaign, including design, execution, and tracking of all solicitations.
    • Manage the Development & Alumni department budgets and oversee all financial processing, reporting, and reconciliation.
    • Responsible for the Distinguished Alumni and Making A Difference Award process.
    • Develop an annual plan for Alumni & Fundraising t events and activities.
  2. Donor Relations & Stewardship
    • Ensure proper stewardship, recognition, and receipting of all gifts. Oversee the accurate and timely generation of thank you letters, tax receipts, and recognition materials.
    • Maintain the integrity of the donor database (CRM), including data entry, reporting, segmentation, and list management for all campaigns and events.
    • Oversee the distribution of scholarships in partnership with the Financial Aid and Business Office, ensuring compliance with donor intent.
  3. Communications & Events Execution
    • Manage the production and distribution of all Foundation, Development, and Alumni communications (e.g., web content, social media, annual report, newsletters, brochures, solicitation pieces).
    • Oversee and collaborate with College Marketing to develop appropriate and effective marketing strategies for Foundation initiatives.
    • Oversee the logistical planning and execution of all Foundation, Development, and Alumni events (e.g., Annual Gala, Scholarship Night, Alumni events, donor recognition activities).
    • Responsible for overseeing a calendar of community outreach and stewardship activities (e.g., Chamber memberships, community sponsorships, Rotary events)
    • Assist with special events, including collaboration with multiple departments across campus.
  4. Other similar duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of non-profit operations, fundraising, or relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervision experience.
  • CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires highly developed interpersonal skills, along with creativity, energy, imagination, and pivoting skills.

  • Local knowledge of communities in Northwest Ohio is preferred, along with a history of involvement in civic organizations and experience working with volunteers.
  • Requires the ability to write effectively and communicate the written and spoken word with tact and diplomacy.
  • A working knowledge of donor stewardship and solicitation strategies.
  • A working knowledge of fundraising and office software (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Must be a self-starter with good organizational skills, be able to meet deadlines, and be able to work under the pressure of many priorities and deadlines.
