Job description

We're seeking a media relations professional with technology sector experience to help tell that story. In this role, you'll serve as a spokesperson for Vanguard and a trusted counselor to partners, translating complex topics into compelling insights and strengthening Vanguard's reputation as a technology leader.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation to develop public relation communications that drive identified business outcomes. Translates business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content. Prioritizes communications and messages to maximize impact on target external client audiences, including the general public, customers, crew, governmental bodies, suppliers, and the media.

  • Creates effective and compelling public relations content based on deep understanding of target audiences and the evolving external technology landscape. Partners with business area to ensure appropriate public relations and communications support. Serves as a spokesperson, manages incoming inquiries from the media, arranges interviews, and prepares subject matter experts to address the public or media.

  • Determines the most effective and efficient ways to execute key public relations deliverables. Captures key metrics and measures the effectiveness of external client communication. Uses and disseminates industry best practices across the business.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to influence, coach, and negotiate with stakeholders.

  • Creates press releases and other communication materials across owned, earned, and shared channels that are professional, effective, and accurate.

  • Applies Vanguard's style, usage, and brand standards to ensure consistency.

  • Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers across the organization and in the industry to support public relations and business objectives.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required; degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.

  • Minimum five years' related work experience, including experience in financial communications, media relations, or asset management.

  • Experience serving as a spokesperson and managing media inquiries strongly preferred.

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex technology and financial topics clearly and effectively.

  • Experience advising stakeholders and contributing to communications strategy in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.

  • Sound judgment and ability to balance risk, reputation, and business priorities-particularly in sensitive situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with technology-focused media.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

  • Experience using data and insights to evaluate communications effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability to mentor others and contribute to team development.
