WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham brings an innovative approach to the extended stay hotel segment, offering both traditional extended stay suites as well as unfurnished suite options for longer stay lengths. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager to support overall property operations and serve as a key partner to the General Manager. This role is instrumental in delivering exceptional guest service, optimizing operational performance, and developing high-performing teams.


Job Summary: The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a critical leadership role on the property, supporting the General Manager in overseeing all hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance. The AGM helps drive operational excellence, team engagement, and financial performance, and acts as the property leader in the absence of the General Manager. This position requires strong organizational, leadership, and cross-functional skills.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the front office, housekeeping, and guest services departments.
  • Organize, coordinate, and schedule training programs to ensure team members are properly onboarded, compliant with brand standards, and continuously developed.
  • Ensure that all guest rooms and public areas meet the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Monitor room inventory, room rates, and occupancy levels to maximize revenue and occupancy rates.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the rooms division to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Serve as the acting General Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity in leadership.

Guest Satisfaction:

  • Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction by resolving issues promptly and monitoring service quality.
  • Review guest feedback and work with department leaders to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement and oversee guest service initiatives that align with WaterWalk’s standards.

Staff Management & Development:

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing team members across all departments.
  • Coach and mentor team members to grow capability.
  • Monitor labor needs and approve schedules to ensure proper staffing and labor cost control.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the room’s division budget, monitoring expenses to ensure they are within budgetary guidelines.
  • Analyze financial reports related to the room’s division and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments, including sales, revenue, and maintenance, to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members to ensure they are informed of hotel policies, goals, and expectations.
  • Attend management meetings and contribute to the development of hotel policies and procedures.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security regulations within the rooms division.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and ensure that the rooms division is operating according to best practices.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or business degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive hospitality management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-department teams in a hotel environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in hotel systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
