Assistant Childcare Director (Business Director)
The Learning Experience - Newark is seeking an Assistant Childcare Director to support daily center operations, family engagement, staff coordination, and enrollment growth. This leadership role partners closely with the Center Director to ensure smooth school operations while creating an exceptional experience for families and a supportive environment for teachers.
This position is ideal for an early childhood professional who enjoys balancing leadership responsibilities, operational excellence, enrollment support, and team development throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily center operations and administrative functions
  • Partner with the Center Director to maintain compliance with Delaware childcare licensing requirements
  • Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and ratio management
  • Help lead enrollment tours and guide prospective families through the enrollment process
  • Support tuition processing, enrollment documentation, and student record accuracy
  • Maintain licensing files, regulatory paperwork, and operational documentation
  • Provide leadership presence during opening and closing shifts as scheduled
  • Support teacher development through coaching, communication, and ongoing guidance
  • Help ensure classrooms maintain quality standards, operational consistency, and regulatory compliance
  • Build positive relationships with families, children, and staff members
  • Assist with community outreach, enrollment initiatives, and family retention efforts

Qualifications
  • Director qualified under Delaware childcare licensing standards, or actively working toward qualification
  • Prior childcare center leadership, administrative, or management experience preferred
  • Experience in enrollment, customer service, admissions, or family engagement strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable providing leadership support across all areas of center operations
  • Ability to work rotating shifts between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM
  • Must meet all Delaware childcare licensing and background requirements
