Job description

We are seeking passionate, qualified, and knowledgeable employees to join our Hunting and Gun Department at our Boise store. As a member of the Al's team, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and professional shopping experience for every customer. You'll work closely with customers to share your expertise in firearms and hunting gear, helping them find the right products for their individual needs.
The ideal candidate is confident in firearm sales, ammunition, optics, and general hunting gear, and is committed to ensuring full compliance with all federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include assisting customers with product selection, completing required paperwork (including ATF Form 4473), and maintaining a secure, organized department.
You'll work with top brands in the industry while enjoying employee-only discounts and exclusive vendor deals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and build strong customer relations.
  • Identify customers' needs and assist with product selection.
  • Maintain knowledge of hunting and firearm products, trends and industry best practices.
  • Process firearm transactions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including Form 4473.
  • Maintain a clean and organized department, including stock management and merchandising.
  • Educate customers about proper gun care and maintenance.
  • Provide accurate pricing and sale information.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications
Required
  • Must be 21 years or older and legally able to own and possess a firearm.
  • Demonstrate passion for hunting, firearms, and the outdoor industry.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge about guns (e.g., make and models of firearms and scopes, understanding the concepts and practices for hunting and related activities).
  • Strong Communication skills and proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing required paperwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Organized and proactive work ethic.
  • Comfortable approaching and talking to customers.
  • Problem-solving and logical decision-making mentality.
  • Able to effectively work with a team.

    • The schedule for this position includes day and evening shifts Monday through Saturday between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Shifts are available in 4-, 6-, and 8-hour blocks.
      This can be a full-time or part-time role. Full-time hours range from 30-40 hours per week, and part-time hours range from 18-29 hours per week. Saturday and holiday availability is required.
