Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Dover, NH
Reports To: Engineering Director

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Q, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, leading planning efforts, and overseeing the development and research of firearms manufacturing processes and technologies.


Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • Equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree.

  • Relevant coursework: statics, dynamics, materials science, and physics.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for firearms, ensuring efficiency and quality.

  • Design and optimize production workflows and layouts to maximize productivity and safety.

  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability of components and systems.

  • Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tooling.

  • Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues.

  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation (work instructions, SOPs, process flow diagrams).

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance capabilities and reduce costs.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards.

  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing staff and operators.

  • Manage projects introducing new technologies/methods from concept through implementation.

  • Conduct time studies and analyze production metrics to identify improvement opportunities.


Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to create and deliver presentations.

  • Proven project management ability including budgeting and schedule ownership.

  • Experience with CNC machining, stamping, molding, 3D printing, and casting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; design-thinking mindset preferred.

  • Current, up-to-date technical knowledge of firearms manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to conduct testing and quality-assurance checks on completed projects.

  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.

  • Strong understanding of materials science and metallurgical principles for firearms applications.
