The Shipping and Receiving Agent plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in securing and organizing store inventory. This position is responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant intake and outbound logistics of firearms, ammunition, NFA items, and accessories. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, logistically minded, and deeply committed to maintaining perfect inventory records in strict accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Intake: Unload, unbox, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips for 100% accuracy.
  • ATF Compliance: Log incoming and outgoing firearms accurately into the Acquisition and Disposition (A&D) book and electronic logging systems.
  • Serial Number Verification: Physically inspect and verify serial numbers, models, and calibers of firearms upon receipt.
  • Outbound Logistics: Securely package, label, and process outgoing shipments, including customer returns, transfers, and online orders.
  • Stock Management: Organize backstock, tag items, and transport inventory safely from the receiving dock to the showroom floor.
  • Discrepancy Reporting: Immediately document and escalate any shipping damages, shortages, or inventory discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Audits & Cycle Counts: Participate in routine inventory audits and daily cycle counts to ensure strict inventory control. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Qualifications & Skills
  • Industry Knowledge: Basic familiarity with major firearms manufacturers, models, calibers, and NFA items preferred.
  • Extreme Attention to Detail: Proven ability to read and verify long strings of numbers and complex product descriptions without error.
  • Compliance Mindset: Understanding of (or willingness to learn) ATF regulations regarding firearm logging and storage.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and safely lift, push, or pull heavy crates and boxes (up to 50+ lbs).
  • Tech Proficiency: Experience with warehouse management software, electronic A&D books, and standard POS systems.
  • Core Attributes: Highly organized self-starter who works efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. [1, 2, 3]
