The Role
The Engineering Manager position serves a multi-functional team which includes technical responsibility for Video Systems, Computer Networks, Electrical Assemblies and Warehousing Support for VASCIC Land Based Test Facility (LBTF). Responsibilities include addressing cost, scheduled and performance for Ford Class new construction, ISEA and other In-Service necessities. The Manager Level 2 leader serving in this role shall possess ample experience in Ford Class design processes, products and requirements, preferentially from an Electrical, I&C, Computer Networks and Automation perspective. The candidate must be an engaging leader-coach-mentor with their assigned reports, team members and peers. This includes being technically effective in the areas of Electrical Power, Computer Networks, and Automation, and building that technical proficiency in others to maintain an effective and cohesive team.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
  • Experience working with Navy stakeholders and executive leadership to translate operational needs into engineering solutions that improve mission readiness and extend vessel life.
  • A strong technical knowledge base and extensive experience of CVN Platform Systems and equipment.
