Meet the team:
The Release group plays a critical role in Torc's product engineering and release lifecycle. The Release group is responsible for ensuring safe and successful product delivery by working collaboratively across engineering divisions to sponsor and drive the release ecosystem. The Release group includes Engineering Quality Management, Release Management, System Triage and System Verification and Validation teams. This role is within the Engineering Quality Management (EQM) team where we provide quality assurance activities by preventing defects, improving processes, and applying standards throughout the development lifecycle. We support the creation of release artifacts and end-to-end traceability of our digital thread through efficient use of lifecycle tooling
What you'll do:
The Manager of EQM is responsible for people leadership of a team of Quality Assurance engineers that oversees the engineering team's quality control and assurance processes. This includes regular compliance audits to ensure compliance and detect gaps against Torc's QMS system and safety, cybersecurity and regulatory standards.
The people leader of EQM will drive strategic initiatives, mitigate risks, perform resource planning and performance management for direct reports.
A successful candidate will have experience performing thought leadership, cross-function collaboration, and driving improvements for quality management systems to meet production goals. A robust background in large-scale, safety-critical systems and/or software development processes within complex development systems is beneficial to guide company engineering procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver through your team as well as collaborate across teams to provide practical and suitable quality management procedures for Torc's autonomous driving product line.
  • Support a rapid engineering development schedule for Torc's self-driving system by completing root cause analysis activities and driving efficiency improvements back into the organization.
  • Collaborate with Development teams, V&V teams and corporate quality management for planning, execution and delivery of quality assurance activities.
  • Communicate and coordinate QMS processes, procedures and work instructions that cover development and testing activities for hardware, software, system and overall transportation eco-system.
  • Sponsor and implement methods to inspect and evaluate engineering deliverables, with automation and data analytics to provide insight into the health of Torc's QMS system.
  • Facilitate regular audits and feedback to leadership, outlining findings and follow-up improvements.
  • Facilitate QMS training materials for Torc employees.
  • Identify and report on release artifacts included in the Product Development lifecycle including requirements, architecture, design, hardware, software, test and verification deliverables.
  • Ensure the proper baseline identification of current and historical configuration items can be accurately determined throughout the product lifespan, perform periodic audits, and provide verification of configuration items release versioning.
  • People leadership responsibilities include new hire selection, onboarding, goal setting, career pathing and professional development, employee team building and training, performance management, scheduling and assigning work, resource management and controlling expenses, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. Proactively manages employee relations and conflict while representing Torc's core values
  • Identify hiring needs, partner with People Operations and Talent Acquisition, and assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, selection, and hiring processes for talent across multidisciplinary teams. Recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations
  • Accomplishes team objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes with the highest degree of quality and safety

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field
  • 10+ years experience for quality management of software/ hardware/ complex systems
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Experience with industry standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 21434.
  • Strong problem-solving / analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn in unstructured environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills enabling a positive energy and work environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving software/hardware infrastructure
  • Experience delivering production systems from early prototype phases through product launch and in-field maintenance.
