Job description

Summary

The EHS Manager leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs for the Indianapolis manufacturing site.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead site EHS policies, procedures, programs, and management systems; drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IDEM, IDHS, DOT, NRC/Agreement State, and other applicable EHS requirements.
  • Serve as EHS subject matter expert and business partner to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, industrial hygiene/ergonomic evaluations, inspections, and audits.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, injuries, spills, and environmental events; manage root cause and CAPA.
  • Develop and maintain EHS training (onboarding, annual refreshers, role-specific, emergency response, hazmat, PPE, respiratory protection, contractor safety).
  • Manage environmental compliance (hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater/stormwater, chemical management, SDS, reporting/recordkeeping).
  • Prepare and submit internal/external regulatory reports.
  • Lead emergency preparedness (emergency action plans, spill response, drills, fire safety, business continuity coordination).
  • Establish EHS metrics and communicate results; support change management and operational readiness.
  • Promote engagement via safety committees, gemba walks, coaching, observations, awareness campaigns.
  • Up to 10% travel.
Education & Experience (Required/Preferred)
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in EHS/Occupational Safety/Environmental Science/Engineering/Industrial Hygiene/Chemistry or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Required: 5+ years progressive EHS experience in regulated manufacturing/pharma/biotech/radiopharmaceutical/lab environments.
  • Required: Experience leading EHS programs, audits, inspections, incident investigations, regulatory reporting, training, and corrective action.
  • Strongly preferred: cGMP/pharmaceutical/radiopharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing or similarly regulated environments.
  • Preferred: CSP/ASP/CIH/CHMM (or equivalent); supervisory or cross-functional program management.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Leadership to influence, coach, and build a proactive safety culture.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS compliance, risk management, incident investigation, corrective actions, and audit readiness.
  • Analytical/problem-solving skills; strong written/verbal communication.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with EHS/LMS/document control systems; SAP/LabLogic preferred.
  • Strong ethics and confidentiality; applies AI to improve execution and decision-making.
