Summary/Objective:
The Underwriter will assist with the development of profitable business and maintain relationships with assigned agents. The incumbent will utilize and comply with the companyโ€™s Underwriting, Actuarial, Reinsurance, Claims and Legal functions. The individual will assist with managing underwriting aspects of the agency relationship including visitation to present our products and underwriting appetite, develop relationships, and profitability.
Essential Duties amp; Functions:
  • Ability to help agents/insureds with any questions related to eligibility, endorsements, billing and policy information.
  • Ability to explain our product and how we differentiate ourselves in the marketplace.
  • Proficiency in technology as an underwriting tool.
  • Examine documents such as referrals, loss history to ensure completeness.
  • Ability to define and implement key dashboards that track and measure production, losses and identify areas of risk.
  • Select, price, quote and decline new business referred by brokers in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and application of experienced, sound underwriting judgement.
  • Partner and maintain collaborative business relationships to develop and grow underwrite profitable business.
  • Participate in other projects and duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years underwriting experience in the Property/Casualty industry preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree.
  • Previous Insurance coursework.
  • Insurance rating experience.
Additional Eligibility Requirements (Certificates, Licenses, Required/Preferred):
  • AINS, CPCU or other insurance designations.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Expected days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
Travel:
As needed to develop/maintain relationships with agency partners.
