The Associate Underwriter/Desk Underwriter plays a vital role in delivering our AI-powered underwriting platform's differentiated value proposition by efficiently managing standard insurance submissions, supporting broker communications, and ensuring high-quality underwriting throughout. Working within a collaborative 'pod' structure under the guidance of a Senior Underwriter, the AU executes repeatable, process-driven tasks that drive volume and efficiency, allowing the team to scale while maintaining strong broker relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute standard underwriting submissions, applying established guidelines and logic codified within our proprietary underwriting system.
  • Manage submission pipelines, ensuring timely processing and supporting the delivery of quotes in accordance with productivity expectations.
  • Support broker communications and follow-ups as needed, serving as a reliable point of contact for routine inquiries.
  • Generate and validate final quotes, forms, and documentation for binding, coordinating with policy issuance and servicing teams as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy of in-force policies, execute mid-term changes, and support renewals readiness by updating data and preparing handoffs to underwriters.
  • Collaborate with Senior Underwriters to ensure consistent and high-quality output, escalating complex or flagged submissions as appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to support career progression toward more senior underwriting roles.

Education

  • High School Diploma or relevant work experience required
  • College degree preferred

Work Experience/Skill Set

  • 2+ years of underwriting experience
  • Strong attention to detail and process orientation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Interest in career development within the underwriting profession
