Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to install, configure, administer, optimize, and support enterprise database environments across on-premises and AWS platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB while supporting high-availability production environments, database migrations, automation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and cloud database services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and administer MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB databases across on-premises and AWS environments.
  • Manage database replication solutions to support application-specific high-availability requirements.
  • Administer and optimize AWS managed database services including RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, EC2, and S3.
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, blue-green deployments, and refresh activities with minimal downtime.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and routine administrative tasks using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database monitoring, alerting, and performance management solutions.
  • Perform database health checks, capacity planning, maintenance, and performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot production database issues and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database schemas, SQL queries, and overall database performance.
  • Support DevSecOps initiatives by implementing security patches, upgrades, and database hardening activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Generate reports and provide database insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Support database administration across Linux-based environments.
  • Develop and maintain Shell or Python scripts to automate database administration activities.
  • Create, tune, and optimize stored procedures as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Overall 10+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
  • Extensive experience administering enterprise databases in production environments.
  • Experience deploying, migrating, upgrading, and supporting databases on AWS EC2, Aurora, RDS MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong knowledge of database replication, high availability, ACID principles, normalization, and transaction management.
  • Experience performing production-to-non-production database refreshes.
  • Experience with HAProxy and Keepalived configuration and administration.
  • Strong experience with Shell scripting or Python.
  • Experience using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and stored procedures.
  • Experience implementing backup, recovery, monitoring, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MongoDB administration.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, or MonYog.
  • Experience working with DevSecOps teams and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale AWS database environments.
