Job description

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEย 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minimum of seven years of directly related IT work experience, including managing team(s).ย  Must have Oracle Real Application Cluster, Oracle Application Servers and Oracle-E -Business Suite R12, 11g and SQL Server 2008 databases. Must have demonstrated knowledge of current database technologies, and of data analysis techniques. Must have in depth knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming, systems design, computer operations, systems and procedures and of project control and cost estimating techniques. Must have the ability to manage a group of DBAs and provide support to the MARTA's enterprise database environment.ย  ย Must have the ability to resolve highly technical systems issues associated with systems performance and security.ย  In lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience in the area of systems engineering may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.ย 

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS:ย ย

SUMMARYย 

The manager of database administration will serve as an architect for MARTA's enterprise database platform.ย  Supervise and lead in the planning, development and maintenance of the databases systems for all applications utilizing relational databases. The Manager of Database Administration will serve in the Technology Custodian Board as the Database Expert, make technical decisions, develop and implement policies, standards and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the enterprise database. Will guide the team to perform database performance monitoring and implement efficiency improvements for MARTA's enterprise databases. Responsible for all aspects of the Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server technology, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Real Application Cluster, Oracle Application Server, Oracle R12, Oracle 11g and SQL Server 2008 databases. The Manager of Database Administration is required to make sure regular database backup and recovery, disaster recovery test and data archiving for the environment be performed as needed. Responsible for making sure all necessary Oracle patches follow MARTA's DBA patch policy and support the developers and users with database related issues. The Manager is also responsible for overseeing the support of other applications as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 

1.ย  Serves as a technical lead and architect for MARTA's enterprise database platform.ย 

2.ย  Serves in the Technology Custodian Board as the Database Expert, make technicalย ย ย  decisions, develop and implement policies, standards and procedures to ensure theย

3.ย  Lead in the planning, development and maintenance of the database systems for all

4.ย  Guides a team of DBA's to perform database performance monitoring and implement

ย  ย  ย efficiency improvements for MARTA's enterprise databases.ย 

5.ย  Covers all aspects of the Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server technology, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Real Application Cluster, Oracle Application Server, Oracle R12, ย  ย  ย Oracle 11g and SQL Server 2008 databases. ย ย 

6.ย  Required to oversee or perform regular database backup and recovery test, disaster recovery

ย  ย  ย tests and data archiving for the environment.

7.ย  Support the developers and users with database related issues.ย 

8.ย  Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.

9.ย  Manage and oversee other applications as assigned.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An advance understanding of Microsoft Desktop applications, Microsoft Project, Excelย Spreadsheets, Microsoft Visio, ITIL Service Desk, HP PPM and basic projectย management tools.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

ITIL certification preferred.
