Job Summary:
Costco Wholesale is the third largest retailer in the world, known for its employee-centric culture and commitment to community service. The Network Engineer role involves maintaining and operating Costco Travel's global networks, collaborating with Infrastructure Architects to ensure compliance with best practices, and providing support for network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with the Infrastructure Architects to develop strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies.
• Collaborates with the Infrastructure Architects to translate technical requirements into low-level network designs.
• Collaborates with the Infrastructure Architects to plan and recommend network hardware, systems management software, and architecture.
• Configures and maintains physical and virtual network infrastructure such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Implements and maintains wireless infrastructure for corporate locations.
• Analyzes network capacity and availability to meet networking requirements while maintaining a secure environment.
• Configures and maintains tools for network monitoring, reporting, performance, and troubleshooting.
• Handles Tier 3 support and escalations for troubleshooting of network infrastructure.
• Collaborates with the Infrastructure Architects to implement networks that comply with security and compliance requirements such as PCI and HIPPA.
• Assists in identifying root cause of network operational issues, resolves problems, and recommends and implements mitigation of issues.
• Implements and configures network security products including stateful and next-generation firewalls.
• Creates, implements, and maintains automation scripts for network configuration and management using automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and Git.
• Creates network diagrams and documentation.
• Leads and/or participates in RFPs/RFIs, PoCs, lab testing, and validation.
• Implements and configures network infrastructure services such as 802.1X, NAC, IPSEC VPN, RADIUS, NTP, SDWAN, IPAM, monitoring, and logging.
• Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Works closely with Infrastructure Architects to analyze network capacity and create plans for growth and improvement in a proactive manner.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum 5 years’ Networking experience supporting complex medium to large enterprises.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with networking technologies (Fortinet, Arista, Aruba, Checkpoint).
• Strong troubleshooting skills to isolate network faults.
• Thorough understanding of the OSI model, as well as Ipv4 protocol suite.
• Knowledgeable on Security Best Practices, procedures, and compliance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
• Occasional travel may be required to our Data Centers and other locations.
• CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or Arista Certification
Preferred:
• Network+ Certification.
• Fortigate Certification.
• Checkpoint Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Workspace applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
