ABOUT SHANGRI-LA
Shangri-La is a fast-growing cannabis organization focused on operational excellence, compliance, product quality, and exceptional customer experiences across cultivation, manufacturing, and retail operations. As our organization continues to scale, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Manager to support regulatory oversight, quality control, SOP enforcement, operational auditing, and compliance accountability across cultivation and manufacturing facilities.
This role is critical in ensuring all cultivation and manufacturing operations remain compliant, audit-ready, operationally efficient, and aligned with state regulations, BioTrack requirements, internal SOPs, and company standards.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Compliance Manager will oversee compliance operations across cultivation and manufacturing facilities, supporting regulatory readiness, quality assurance initiatives, operational inspections, SOP enforcement, inventory accuracy, and audit execution.
This individual will work closely with cultivation leadership, manufacturing leadership, inventory, fulfillment, security, and executive teams to identify operational risks, strengthen compliance programs, improve accountability, and ensure operational consistency across all departments.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, operationally minded, and comfortable working in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Oversight & Compliance Management
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of cannabis regulations related to cultivation, manufacturing, packaging, processing, transportation, waste handling, and inventory tracking
• Monitor operational compliance with state regulations, BioTrack requirements, internal SOPs, and company policies
• Ensure licenses, agent registrations, permits, and required compliance documentation remain current and audit-ready
• Serve as a primary compliance resource during state inspections, investigations, audits, and regulatory visits
• Assist leadership with corrective action planning and regulatory response documentation as needed
Audits, Inspections & SOP Enforcement
• Conduct routine and unannounced inspections throughout cultivation and manufacturing operations
• Lead internal operational audits focused on SOP compliance, sanitation standards, inventory accuracy, security procedures, packaging compliance, and operational workflows
• Monitor and enforce adherence to company SOPs and compliance standards across all departments
• Identify operational risks, compliance gaps, inefficiencies, and policy violations proactively
• Track audit findings, corrective actions, repeat issues, and operational trends through detailed reporting and follow-up processes
• Participate in facility readiness evaluations and operational inspections
Quality Control & Operational Oversight
• Assist with quality control initiatives related to packaging, labeling, storage, sanitation, product handling, and production consistency
• Verify inventory tracking accuracy through routine reconciliations, spot checks, waste audits, and BioTrack validation
• Support chain-of-custody compliance and operational traceability throughout cultivation and manufacturing processes
• Partner with operations teams to ensure production processes remain organized, compliant, and scalable
• Monitor environmental, storage, sanitation, and operational standards within cultivation and manufacturing environments
Training & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Assist with developing and implementing compliance training, SOP training, and operational accountability initiatives
• Train and coach operational teams on compliance expectations, audit readiness, documentation standards, and SOP adherence
• Work closely with Cultivation, Manufacturing, Inventory, Fulfillment, Security, HR, and Executive Leadership to maintain operational compliance across departments
• Support onboarding and compliance certification processes for new employees
QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous cannabis industry experience required
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in compliance, cultivation operations, manufacturing operations, inventory management, quality assurance, auditing, or regulatory oversight
• Strong understanding of cannabis compliance regulations, BioTrack tracking, SOP development, and operational audit procedures
• Experience conducting inspections, investigations, audits, and compliance reporting
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to maintain professionalism and accountability in high-pressure operational environments
• Experience working in highly regulated manufacturing or production environments preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify operational risks proactively
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, reporting tools, inventory systems, and compliance documentation
