Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Cancer Support Services Coordinator, you will serve as a compassionate liaison between Medical Oncology and the Cancer Center, acting as a vital resource for patients, families, and staff. In this role, you will champion our mission by developing and implementing community-focused programs that provide meaningful group and individual support mechanisms, serving as the primary bridge between clinical oncology teams and those they serve to ensure critical cancer resources remain accessible.
Every day you will facilitate dynamic support groups and educational courses designed to empower oncology patients, families, and healthcare professionals while taking a hands-on approach to leadership. By selecting and supervising volunteers in our Companions for Oncology Patient Enrichment Program and actively marketing our specialized services, you will be instrumental in the daily operation and promotion of programs that directly enhance the oncology patient experience.
To be successful in this role, you will apply your expert ability to motivate individuals and foster effective interpersonal communication across diverse groups. You will thrive by utilizing your strong organizational talents to analyze data, coordinate complex tasks, and manage a varied clinical workload, all while maintaining the high standard of professional camaraderie and patient-centered service required to meet our strategic goals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks and procedures according to Medical Center policy and procedure.
  • Develops ongoing support group and educational courses for patients, families and professionals dealing with cancer.
  • Provides ongoing support to cancer patients and families.
  • Coordinates, selects and supervises the volunteers in the Companions for Oncology Patient Enrichment Program.
  • Assists in making available to cancer patients, families and friends community resources and library resources regarding cancer.
  • Markets Cancer Center services to the community.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Masters in counseling or related field (i.e., M.F.C.C.,MSW, Psychology, etc.)
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as an MSW in a hospital setting
