Job description

Overview
CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an Active Directory Administrator IV join the team in Quantico, VA. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that thrives in a challenging environment, a Team player who seeks new solutions and is willing to both teach and learn. They will be part of an Enterprise Tier 3 level Active Directory (AD) Support team supporting over 265,000 user accounts and 140,000 computer accounts across several AD domains on government operated networks. The services that the AD Support team supports in Active Directory include accounts and group management; security configuration of the AD infrastructure; Domain Name Service (DNS); Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol; Distributed File Replication Services; Group Policy Objects; and other directory services technologies as applicable.
The ideal candidate will provide Tier III level Active Directory support and requires knowledge of the Windows Server Operating System and relevant AD applications (such as Lync, System Center Suite, and Exchange). The underlying infrastructure consists of both physical servers and VMware based servers and requires knowledge in VMware Virtualization and VMware vCloud to perform the specialized EDM Active Directory tasks.
Responsibilities
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with AD and internal DNS.
  • Resolve Active Directory tickets escalated from the service desk to include completing the associated administrative activities and providing a weekly status report.
  • Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections as well as other sections as required.
  • Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to Tier II, and service desks for handling standard Active Directory related incidents, work orders, and service requests.
  • Provide Active Directory Service Desk Resolution Reports documentation to the service desk on the procedures for completing the task.
  • Submit and execute AD related Request for Change tasks.
  • Monitor the system availability and performance of AD with Government -provided event management tools, and take corrective action with regard to incidents that lower the health of AD.
  • Provide project support for AD related technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team and other sections on AD-related issues.
  • Support change management process; submit requests through Change Approval Board; and participate in Change Review Boards.
  • Escalate product issues to third party product vendors upon Government approval. Implement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for the annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI).
  • Document and implement technical solutions for operational requirements using existing and emerging technologies.

Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
  • DoD 8580 IAT III (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, or CISSP (or Associate)
  • Professional level certification, i.e. MCSA Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, MCSE Core Infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
  • 7 years related experience
  • Firewall, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) experience configuring, certificate configuring; troubleshooting
  • Experience with PowerShell commands needed to manage Active Directory features, roles, mailboxes, performance and troubleshooting
  • Experience identifying the need for any Active Directory system reconfigurations (minor or significant)
  • Experience maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for Active Directory system administration and appropriate use
  • Experience in building, tuning and maintaining servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting server performance issues using native Windows Server tools and utilities
  • Strong experience with Active Directory 2019/2022, planning, deploying and migration, including experience with mailbox server failover and cluster management
  • Extensive knowledge of AD architecture - databases and logs, mail routing and protocol support.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022
  • Ability to evaluate the need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant)
  • Ability to maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for messaging system administration and appropriate use
  • Thorough working knowledge of Active Directory as it relates to enterprise technologies
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot server performance issues using native Windows Server tools and utilities
  • Maintain a "forward looking" posture and work with management to plan for future upgrades, including Active Directory migration to the newer version

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Security Requirements:
  • Top-Secret w/SSBI (requires an active Top-Secret clearance as a minimum level for consideration)

Salary:
  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's relevant work experience, education, professional certifications, technical skills, required security clearance level, geographic location, and overall qualifications.
