As an Industrial Maintenance Machinist at Silgan Closures, you will support manufacturing operations by maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and fabricating mechanical systems and production equipment.
What you will do:
  • Read and work from blueprints, sketches, sample parts, and verbal instructions
  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment including:
    • Power saws
    • Drill presses
    • Grinding wheels
  • Use measuring tools and hand tools including:
    • Scales
    • Tape measures
    • Hammers
    • Pliers
    • Wrenches
  • Install, move, lubricate, and repair machinery and industrial equipment
  • Repair belts, air lines, gas lines, and replace damaged machine parts
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems
  • Perform fabrication and welding including:
    • Acetylene welding
    • Heliarc welding
    • Spot welding
    • Arc welding
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency

What You Will Need:
  • 3-5 years of mechanical maintenance or machinist experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with:
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatics
    • Belts and pulleys
    • Welding
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
