Job description

Machinist MechanicPBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Machinist Mechanic to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.The Machinist Mechanic position is responsible for the maintenance of process equipment and machinery. This includes Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Gearboxes, Motors, Fans, Blowers, Valves, and Specialty equipment.

Job Responsibilities May Include:

  • Maintain, repair, & overhaul process rotating machinery in a safe & efficient manner in both a shop and field environment.

  • Set-up and operate machine tools to manufacture and repair parts to specifications using, Manual & CNC Lathes, Vertical & Horizontal Mills, Cylindrical & Surface grinders.

  • Able to use precision measuring equipment (Micrometers, Calipers, Protractors, & Indicators).

  • Interpreting tolerances and dimensions from drawings, sketches, & engineering documents.

  • Operate various shop support equipment. (Saws, Forklifts, Overhead Cranes, Hydraulic presses, Bearing Heaters, Torches, Etc.)

Position Specific Requirements:

  • Work Schedule:

    • 9/80 Working Schedule

    • Participation in callout coverage

    • Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required (maintenance outages and turnarounds)

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Climb ladders

    • Walk up and down steps

    • Lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to Work in the Following Conditions:

    • Work at heights

    • Work in compact and confined spaces

    • Work outside in inclement weather

    • Work while wearing a respirator, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

    • Work in areas requiring hearing protection

  • Possess a valid Driver's License

  • Candidate must have active TWIC card or be able to obtain a TWIC card. Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 4+ years Machinist/Mechanical Journeyman level work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess one of the following certifications in a Mechanical discipline:

    • Union or Company Apprenticeship

    • Trade School

    • Journeyman level Machinist

  • Previous refinery or chemical plant experience.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Passing of pre-employment testing

  • Successful completion of pre-employment requirements including physical agility test, physical, background check, and drug/alcohol screening

The Machinist Mechanic position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers (USW) International Union AFL-CIO, CLC and the Martinez Refining Company LLC.

The pay rate for this position is $55.33 an hour based on qualification requirements in the CBA.
