Job description

Machine Operator

The Independent Record is seeking a full-time machine operator to join the team. This position is responsible for operating machines including the set-up, operation, and basic maintenance of packing equipment including insert machines, stackers, strappers, and other equipment.

Duties include: 

  • Set up and operate counterveyor
  • Wing mail, sorting and bagging of product
  • Feed insert machine head; correct misses and doubles
  • Fly and cart/palletize product
  • Break open pallets, record pallet counts on inserters; verify dates
  • Transport pallets to storage, stack empty pallets
  • Hand-stuff inserts into papers; top inserts on news bundles
  • Jog papers on jogger
  • Operate counter stacker, pull sections and jackets, stack sections and jackets
  • Monitor conveyor flow
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift Schedule:

  • Monday: 12pm-8pm
  • Tuesday: 10am-6pm
  • Wednesday: 12pm-8pm
  • Thursday: 10am - 6pm
  • Friday: 12pm to 8pm

The ability to obtain a forklift certification and lift/ carry up to 50 pounds, and to push/pull up to 2,000 pounds with a pallet jack is required.  Manufacturing and machine operating experience is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older.
