Job description

Winsert is seeking qualified candidates for a Machine Shop Manager! The Machine Shop Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations to achieve company metrics / goals. This role will lead the machine shop production team ensuring safety, quality, and productivity needs are met and champion a positive work environment / culture.
Pay: $95,000 - $105,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain acceptable quality, inventory, and profitability levels within the scope of responsibility.
  • Responsible for meeting annual business plan / departmental budget requirements as well as metrics and KPIs related to organizational and departmental goals.
  • Drive, coach, empower, amp; support production team personnel to meet performance metrics / goals and drive team ownership of company results.
  • Lead a continuous improvement culture to drive down costs and increase productivity.
  • Understand labor needs and maintain proper workforce necessary to meet production goals while minimizing cost, managing overtime, and ensuring Winsert complies with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Enforce Winsert policies and rules consistently. Address performance issues and deliver corrective action as needed.
  • Accountable for on-time delivery, scrap, and consumption of perishable items.
  • Monitor daily production flow and promptly initiate any corrective actions needed in response to deviation from plan.
  • Communicate regularly with Operations team members, Production Supervisors, Planning/Scheduling, etc. to ensure they are informed of all pertinent issues regarding priorities, work schedules, quality issues, etc.
  • Support capital expenditure projects that improve capacity and/or efficiency in the Machine Shop.
  • Assist in coordination of test shop orders, bringing new products into full production, and in adjusting manufacturing capacity to meet changes in customer demand.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct performance reviews of all direct reports. Set departmental and individual team member goals.
  • Participate in hiring process for hourly and salaried Machine Shop roles.
  • Oversee the purchase of inventory/non-inventory items for the Machine Shop.
  • Participate in shift meetings and ensure that they are held regularly.
  • Ensure shift audits are being conducted and assist in quality related tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Self-motivated with a result driven approach
  • Ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Ability to analyze data and create data organization tools when needed.
  • Must have excellent time management skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements with minimal interruption of normal workflow.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to actively move through production area to work with staff.
  • Vision must be correctable to allow reading/viewing of documents and computer screen.
  • Hearing must be correctable to allow extensive use of telephone and voicemail as well as participate in discussions among large groups.
  • Mobility and coordination must allow for required tasks to be performed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ yearsโ€™ experience in personnel management.
  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience in machine shop / manufacturing environment.
  • Prior training and/or experience with Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma preferred.
  • Prior experience in a machine shop manager or operations manager role preferred.
  • Leadership development training is preferred.
