Job description

Shop Supervisor

J&A Glass & Mirror, Inc.
Rogers, Minnesota
$58,000 to $72,000
Full-time
Typical hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Role

J&A Glass is hiring a working Shop Supervisor to take ownership of the daily flow of our glass fabrication shop.

This person will coordinate material receiving, fabrication priorities, staging, deliveries, equipment readiness, and the work of shop employees. This is not a desk-only management position. The right person will lead the shop, establish priorities, hold people accountable, and work alongside the team when needed.

Glass experience is valuable, but strong leadership, organization, urgency, and follow-through matter more.

What You Will Own
  • Set daily priorities for shop fabrication, material staging, shipping, receiving, and deliveries

  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure materials are ready when field crews need them

  • Lead, train, and hold shop employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and organization

  • Maintain an accurate and organized inventory and material staging system

  • Identify shortages, damaged material, missing information, and schedule risks before they become field problems

  • Coordinate the use and basic maintenance of shop equipment, forklifts, trailers, and fleet vehicles

  • Assist with storefront, curtain wall, door, glass, mirror, and brake metal fabrication as needed

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional shop

  • Improve shop processes and reduce wasted time, lost materials, and preventable remobilization

  • Communicate clearly when priorities conflict or additional decisions are needed

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 90 days:

  • Daily shop priorities are clear

  • Materials are staged accurately and on time

  • Shipping and receiving are organized

  • Shop employees understand expectations and ownership

  • Equipment and fleet needs are identified before they interrupt work

  • Project managers receive dependable updates

  • Fewer field delays are caused by missing, damaged, or incomplete materials

Qualifications
  • Two or more years of leadership experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse operations, logistics, or a related environment

  • Proven ability to organize daily work and manage competing priorities

  • Comfortable giving direct feedback and holding employees accountable

  • Strong communication and follow-through

  • Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and basic production tracking systems

  • Experience using power tools, fabrication equipment, forklifts, or warehouse equipment

  • Ability to read shop drawings, fabrication sheets, measurements, and material lists

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds

  • Commercial glass, storefront, curtain wall, door, or metal fabrication experience is preferred but not required

Compensation

Starting pay is based on relevant leadership, construction, fabrication, and glass experience.

  • Lower end of the range: strong working lead or warehouse experience with limited glass knowledge

  • Upper end of the range: proven shop leadership with commercial glass, fabrication, logistics, or glazing experience

Benefits
  • Health insurance

  • Dental insurance

  • Vision insurance

  • 401(k) matching

  • Paid time off after 60 days

  • $200 annual boot reimbursement

  • Opportunities for advancement

  • Full-time, year-round work

  • Primarily climate-controlled shop environment
