Machine Operating Assistant

New Hope, MN | Contract to Hire | 2nd shift M-TH 3:00 PM - 1 AM / $23/hr

Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is seeking an Assistant Machine Operator to support production operations and help ensure efficient equipment performance and product quality. This role works closely with a machine operator to assist with equipment setup, materials preparation, quality checks, and packaging.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on repetitive work in a manufacturing environment and wants to grow their skills working around industrial equipment and production processes.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Machine Operator supports the operation of production equipment by preparing materials, monitoring machine performance, assisting with setup and maintenance tasks, and verifying product quality. This role plays a key part in keeping production running efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the machine operator with equipment setup and production preparation
  • Gather components and materials based on job tickets or bills of materials
  • Help monitor equipment during production to ensure efficient operation
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and assist in resolving production issues
  • Conduct quality inspections and measurements using tools such as rulers or gauges
  • Ensure finished products meet required specifications and quality standards
  • Assist with light equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Help with packaging finished products and handling material rolls
  • Operate the machine when needed in the absence of the primary operator

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 0–3 months of related Warehouse shipping and receiving experience, manufacturing, production experience, or equivalent training
  • Comfortable performing repetitive Tasks.
  • Ability to read instructions, job tickets, and basic production documentation
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read measurements and use simple quality tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a production team

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly stand and use hands for repetitive tasks
  • Frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, or reaching
  • Ability to maintain close visual attention for quality inspection tasks
