Job description

Waypoint Detailed Delivery is a fast-growing logistics company specializing in the time-sensitive transportation of food and agriculture samples to laboratories across the country. These laboratories perform critical testing to help ensure the safety, quality, and integrity of the food supply before products reach consumers.

The Logistics Manager leads and supports the Logistics Specialist team responsible for coordinating time-sensitive transportation across the company's operations. This position provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and operational support while ensuring service expectations, billing opportunities, and operational procedures are consistently followed. The ideal candidate is a strategic, customer-focused leader who develops employees, improves processes, and identifies opportunities to reduce costs while maximizing service quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Logistics Specialists while fostering a culture of accountability and exceptional customer service.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational questions and complex service issues.
  • Identify training opportunities through quality reviews, performance trends, and recurring issues.
  • Support onboarding, cross-training, performance evaluations, recognition, and employee development.

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor daily operations to ensure orders, routes, and customer requests are handled accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with drivers, customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve service issues quickly.
  • Support weekend and after-hours operations as needed to ensure staff receive appropriate leadership support.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of order activity, wait times, exceptions, and billable events.

Strategic Improvement & Financial Performance

  • Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs, improve route efficiency, and increase profitability.
  • Ensure billable activities are accurately identified and communicated.
  • Analyze operational trends and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and provide recommendations to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of logistics, dispatch, transportation, customer service, or operations experience.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to learn transportation management systems.
