Job description

Job Title: Global Supplier Strategy & Performance Lead
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-impact Global Supplier Strategy & Performance Lead to drive operational excellence across our external manufacturing and supply base. You will not simply monitor performance-you will transform it. This role is responsible for the end-to-end improvement of our supplier ecosystem, focusing on quality, delivery, capacity, and scalability.
You will act as an internal consultant and operational expert, deploying Lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving to help our partners scale effectively. This is a high-visibility, high-travel role for a professional who thrives in matrixed environments, possesses deep manufacturing knowledge, and has the resilience to lead complex "recovery" initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Management & Strategy
• Supplier Governance: Define global KPIs, lead performance reviews, and establish the governance model that holds our suppliers accountable for quality, delivery, and scalability.
• Risk Mitigation: Perform proactive supplier risk assessments and design long-term mitigation strategies to protect our supply chain from disruption.
• New Product Readiness: Lead supplier readiness for new product integration. Oversee the entire cycle from APQP/PPAP through process validation, ensuring our suppliers are ready to scale when we are.
Operational Excellence & Lean Deployment
• Lean Leadership: Drive continuous improvement by deploying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Facilitate Kaizen events focused on Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and cycle time optimization.
• Problem Solving: Own the "deep dive" on quality and delivery failures. Lead structured root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure that corrective actions are systemic and sustainable.
• Capability Building: Coach supplier leadership teams to develop their own operational capabilities. Your goal is to move the supplier from a "vendor" to a "strategic partner."
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Collaborative Execution: Partner with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations to align supplier capabilities with business requirements.
• Field Engagement: Lead audits and capability assessments globally. Maintain a strong presence on the factory floor to ensure production standards meet our rigorous expectations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or Supply Chain Management.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in supplier development, quality, or plant-level manufacturing operations.
• Process Mastery: Deep expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, and PPAP.
• Technical Breadth: Strong knowledge of complex manufacturing processes, capacity analysis, and quality management systems.
• Travel Agility: Ability and willingness to travel 50%+ (Domestic and Overseas) to work directly on supplier shop floors.
Preferred Attributes
• Proven experience with "greenfield" operations, large-scale outsourcing projects, or complex new product launches.
• Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to influence senior leadership at supplier organizations without direct authority.
• High level of resilience-you are comfortable managing high-pressure "recovery" situations.
