Job Description
About the Team
This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside a team of experienced Master Schedulers, Material Planners, and Shipping/Receiving professionals while supporting projects within the Supply Chain & Logistics department.
The intern will gain valuable insight into the critical role logistics plays in the automotive industry, including how customer satisfaction impacts every stage of the supply chain. This position provides hands-on exposure to supply chain operations and the interconnected processes that ensure products are delivered efficiently and effectively.
The intern will collaborate with a variety of plant departments, including Production Operations, Finance, Quality, Safety, and Purchasing, as well as corporate Supply Chain and Logistics teams. In addition, the role will involve interaction with domestic and international suppliers, transportation providers, and third-party logistics and warehousing partners across multiple transportation modes, including truck, rail, and ocean freight.
What you can look forward to as Supply Chain and Logistics Intern:
  • Utilize SAP to support production planning, scheduling, and inventory management activities.
  • Assist Material Planners and Master Schedulers in coordinating truck, rail, ocean, air, and premium freight logistics.
  • Request, coordinate, and track domestic (U.S., Canada, and Mexico) and international transportation shipments.
  • Use carrier websites, reports, and logistics data to monitor shipment status and performance.
  • Track and analyze carrier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs throughout the supply chain.
  • Support material scheduling, packaging planning, and material flow optimization activities, and support the implementation and continuous improvement of dock scheduling software and related processes.
  • Lead premium freight reporting efforts and assist in the development and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reporting tools.

Your Profile as Supply Chain and Logistics Intern:
  • High School diploma required and currently enrolled in college is required.
  • Strong computer skills required; candidates must be proficient in MS-Office Suite, with proficient understanding of MS Excel in Macros and formulas.
  • Must be quality oriented and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated, with ability to prioritize and accept direction from multiple sources.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be available to work overtime on days and/or weekends when necessary
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment is preferred.
  • Experience using Business Intelligence (BI) tools to analyze data and generate insights is preferred.
