Acts as the single point-of-contact, facilitating arrangements for the patient transfers/transport, and the admission and placement process. Serves as the liaison to physicians, hospitals and other care providers seeking to refer patients.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • RN-Registered Nurse of California Upon Hire


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • 5 years of recent relevant experience in critical care/Emergency Department; Transfer Center, or Nurse Supervisor

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of patient care with the ability to understand medical diagnoses and treatment information.
  • Knowledge of InterQual or related admissions criteria to assess for medical necessity.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory guidelines (e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)) pertaining to healthcare practices.
  • Familiarity and understanding of managed care terminology.
  • Ability to recognize an emergency or high priority situation, and take appropriate and immediate action.
  • Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders to problem solve and achieve desired results/outcome.
  • Displays a customer service focus in all decisions and actions.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal and written means with tact and diplomacy, and to present information to a variety of audiences.

Pay Range is $82.86 to $108.54 / hour. Transfer Nurse - Bay Pay Range is $91.00 to $120.12 / hour.

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
