Job description

Description
The Interior Designer will prepare designs, edit specifications, aid in conceptual estimation, support construction efforts with construction administration, and maintain an in-office material library for interior work, repair, and/or renovation of government, airport, data centers, healthcare, and other commercial related facilities. In this role, the Designer will create, design, and implement interior concepts and space planning strategies to ensure fluidity through the completion of projects.
Job Duties
  • Prepare designs, quantity calculations, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for the interior scope and specifications of government, airport, data centers, healthcare, and other commercial related facilities.
  • Gather, organize, and compile data; develop initial design concepts and plans; and assist with the preparation of internal and external design plans, presentations, and renderings.
  • Oversee furniture selection, layout, purchasing, and the installation process through construction administration.
  • Research interior design products, finishes, and materials and make recommendations.
  • Research, develop, and select colors, finishes, and materials.
  • Recommend and explore new concepts, ideas, formulas, and methods to implement into designs.
  • Lead construction administration activities, including site visits, review of schedules, and review of construction submittals and RFIs to formulate responses.
  • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes.
  • Maintain and organize an in-office material library and establish relationships with local product representatives; coordinate in-office product lunch-and-learns.
  • Coordinate with the client on a regular basis to present designs and options and update the design per feedback.
  • Coordinate with the project architect and other trades on a regular basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in interior design, interior architecture, or similar field required.
  • Master Degree in interior design, interior architecture, or similar field required.
  • Minimum four years of interior design experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated progress towards achieving NCIDQ certification.
  • Portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of standard interior design concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Strong software and computer skills required, including BIM (Revit), Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering software.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, and organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • NCIDQ Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
