Cataloging Supervisor

Location: John McIntire Branch (220 N. 5th Street Zanesville, OH 43701)
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, train, and support Technical Services staff; ensure accurate and efficient workflow.
  • Manage cataloging and classification of all library materials using Dewey, RDA, LCSH, and OCLC standards.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality bibliographic and item records within the ILS; conduct data audits and correct metadata as needed.
  • Oversee acquisitions, ordering, vendor communication, materials processing, and invoice approval.
  • Maintain ordering documentation, weekly budget tracking, and processing supply inventory.
  • Collaborate with IT on record imports/exports, batch uploads, and MARC record integration.
  • Assist customers and staff as needed with library equipment, the online catalog, and digital resources.
  • Recommend improvements to Technical Services policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
  • Performs routine and advanced technical clerical functions. Processes materials, operates automation system, inputs data, edits records, etc.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as requested.
  • Maintains and improves knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars, and in-service training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; coursework in library science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of library experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of cataloging standards, classification systems, and automated library systems.
  • Skill in organizational, analytical, and communication.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate records.
